University of Prishtina reaches out to the employers

Pristina – October 25, 2013. The Faculty of Electrical and Computer  Engineering (FECE) of the University of Pristina ”Hasan Pristina”  organized a one day meeting to discuss modalities and experiences of adopting  their curricula to the needs of the employers (private and public  sector).

FECE is the first faculty that has established the so called ‘Industrial  Board’ in 2005, which marks the beginning of the dialogue of education  institutions and the employers in Kosovo.

The objective of the meeting was to share this experience with Rectorate  of University of Pristina, representatives from Academic development Office,  and other faculty representatives, and to formalize the work of the Industrial  Board.

For this purpose, Professor Martin Weiss from Information School of  Science, University of Pittsburgh was invited to present examples of such  boards from United States of America and European Union countries.

The Prorector of University of Pristina Mr. Avdullah Alija expressed  commitment and interest to support this initiative in order to reinforce   interaction and cooperation between the academic institutions of UP and  the private sector. This would ensure that graduates coming out from  University in the future match better to the demand coming from the industry,  an priority which is also foreseen in UP strategic documents.

The meeting was supported by “Enhancing Youth Employment EYE” project,  funded by Swiss Cooperation Office.
